SIG: Animation Practice as Research

Convenors:

Sam Moore Royal College of Art, London
Katerina Athanasopoulou Royal College of Art, London

Description:

This SIG is aimed at members whose research is mainly articulated through practice. It aims to debate issues around; what practice as research means, encouraging academic rigour in the presenting of practice as research without losing artistic integrity or joy, supporting emerging academics whose research is practice based, and sharing good practice about how practice-as-research is best presented for national benchmark schemes (such as REF). This SIG aims to support different formats of dissemination for practice as research including screenings, themed panels, symposia, festivals, and publication. We encourage international membership from students, practitioners, academic supervisors, and theorists.
